Below highlights the additional maintenance services we provide.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Pool Cover Replacements<\/h3>\n<p>Your pool cover takes a beating in the inclement weather and may retain damage during the winter months. Pool Scouts can replace your worn, torn cover for you. We\u2019ll remove your cover, send it to the manufacturer, and deliver the new cover to your home. All you have to do is pick out the color and we\u2019ll take care of the rest!<\/p>\n<h3>Pool Inspections<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We offer a comprehensive visual pool inspection completed by a Certified Pool Operator. All inspections include a detailed report with pictures and recommendations. The CPO completing the inspection will:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Inspect equipment for proper operation<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Identify any needed repairs\/improvements to pumps, heaters, liners and plumbing<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Alert you of any safety concerns including faulty wiring, poorly attached ladders, failing steps, loose railings, dangerous diving boards and unsafe deck surfaces<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Filter Cleanings<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Keeping up with proper maintenance of your pool filter is important, and while maintaining its cleanliness is a key element of pool maintenance, the cartridge will eventually need to be replaced. Here\u2019s how to tell if your pool filter needs to be cleaned, or if it\u2019s time to toss it and get a new one.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When to Clean the Pool Filter Cartridge<\/span><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The pool filter cartridge needs to be cleaned whenever the filter pressure gauge increases by around 8 PSI, or pounds per square inch, above the normal operating pressure.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Another rule of thumb is at the very least to clean the cartridge every six months. Keeping a schedule is an easy way to make sure the cartridge cleaning gets taken care of.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Outside of these two factors, if there\u2019s a change in the water quality you\u2019ll want to inspect the filter cartridge. It may just be in need of a good cleaning.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When to Replace A Pool Filter Cartridge<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The time frame for how long a cartridge lasts can range, typically about 3 \u2013 5 years. There are other determining factors though to keep an eye on to know if it\u2019s time to replace your pool filter cartridge. Here are a few of the tell-tale signs it\u2019s time for a new cartridge.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Changing Water Quality: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If the pool water remains cloudy or green even after balancing chemicals, it\u2019s time to check the filter cartridge. Each time a filter cartridge is cleaned, the cartridge\u2019s fibers wear down and separate a bit more, allowing finer dirt and debris to pass through.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Increased Cleaning Frequency: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once you notice the pressure gauge rising above 8 PSI more often, it\u2019s most likely time for the cartridge to be replaced. Make sure to keep note of when you last cleaned your cartridge so that you can monitor the frequency of when it\u2019s cleaned. A good rule of thumb is when it needs to be cleaned in about half the time it used to be, it\u2019s time to replace it.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Damaged Filter:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Each time you clean your filter, you should inspect it for any tears or damage in the fabric. If damaged, the filter can\u2019t properly filter debris out, leaving you with a dirty pool.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Check Filter Bands: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cartridge filters have horizontal bands around them to keep the pleats spaced correctly. If the bands are loose, falling off or missing, the filter should be replaced.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Salt Cell Replacements<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Salt cells are an excellent and efficient way to sanitize your pool, and remember, a healthy pool is a happy pool! Most salt cells should be cleaned AT LEAST every three months. At Pool Scouts, we don\u2019t cut corners. We use the proper solvents and techniques to remove as much of that \u201cstuff\u201d as possible from your system.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When to Replace a Salt Cell<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here are a few indications that your salt cell likely needs cleaned, repaired or replaced:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The power center displays a Check Salt message. Proper operation, maintenance, and disinfection (e.g., with chlorine and bromine) of pools and hot tubs should remove or inactivate the virus that causes COVID-19.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>However, keep in mind that if you are visiting a public pool, even if the pool itself is properly maintained and chlorinated, there are often surfaces you would touch along the way that the virus could cling to \u2013 door handles, lockers, public restrooms \u2013 so you may want to stick to your pool at home or at least be extra cautious about what you\u2019re touching. Make sure to wash your hands often and thoroughly (for at least 20 seconds).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h3>Is it safe to swim in my pool at home?<\/h3>\n<div class=\"faq-answer\">\n<p>As long as the pool is properly chlorinated, then yes! This means a chlorine level of between 1 part per million (ppm) and 3 ppm, with 3 ppm being ideal.<\/p>\n<p>However, if you or anyone else is already sick, don\u2019t swim in the pool. While chlorine can kill some viruses, it cannot magically cure someone who is already sick. And you don\u2019t want that sick person to be touching your pool step railings or any other areas that are not submerged. Instead that person should be resting in the comfort of their bed.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h3>Is Pool Scouts still cleaning pools during social distancing?<\/h3>\n<div class=\"faq-answer\">\n<p>Yes. Since our service is outdoors and away from people, we are still servicing pools so that you can enjoy your pool during this time! We can complete our service with no on-site contact with our customers, and we are taking extra safety precautions during this time to help prevent the spread of the virus (see next question).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h3>What safety measures are Pool Scouts taking?<\/h3>\n<div class=\"faq-answer\">\n<p>Our safety measures start before we even arrive at your house. Each morning our vehicles are sanitized and stocked with supplies to sanitize the high touch surfaces we come in contact with around your pool area. As we arrive at your house, customers are strongly encouraged to stay indoors and allow the technician to perform the pool cleaning service. Our Scouts will make sure that your pool is maintained at the proper chlorine level so that you can swim safely (per the CDC, normal sanitizer levels of 3ppm chlorine will kill the virus). National Water Safety Month was originally created by the Association of Pool & Spa Professionals to raise awareness about water safety and to help everyone have safe, fun experiences in and around the water.<\/p>\n<h3>POOL CLEANING WITH A CAUSE \u2013 HOPE FLOATS PARTNERSHIP<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-160554\" src=\"https:\/\/poolscouts.com\/lakenorman\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2022\/04\/Hope_Floats-Swim-It-Forward-1024x265.png\" alt=\"Hope Floats logo\" width=\"350\" height=\"90\" \/><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the CDC, drowning is the leading cause of accidental death for children ages four and under. For the past three years, in hopes of reducing the number of drowning deaths and eliminating this statistic, Pool Scouts franchisees have partnered with Hope Floats Foundation to raise money to put towards swim lessons for underprivileged children who may not have otherwise had the opportunity to learn how to swim. Pool Scouts will be partnering once again with the Hope Floats Foundation this year with a fundraising campaign. For every pool service completed in the month of May, Pool Scouts will donate $1 to Hope Floats to provide scholarships for children in our community to have swim lessons.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0We take honor in partnering with Hope Floats and believe their mission can and will save lives in our community.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Since we began our partnership in 2021, we\u2019ve collectively raised over $100,000 for the Hope Floats Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>As both Pool Scouts and the Hope Floats Foundation celebrate our 10-year anniversaries this year, we\u2019re continuing our commitment with a fundraising campaign this May\u2014setting a goal to raise an additional $10,000 to support swim lessons for children in need.<\/p>\n<p>Join us in making a difference\u2014donate today to help provide lifesaving swim lessons for children who need them most.
