Did you know that May is Water Safety Month? Water safety is a cause that is very near and dear to our hearts here at Pool Scouts. Not only are we focused on cleaning and maintaining pools, but we always want to provide a safe environment for you and your family. That’s why it’s so essential to spread awareness about the importance of learning how to swim! National Water Safety Month was originally created by the Association of Pool & Spa Professionals to raise awareness about water safety and to help everyone have safe, fun experiences in and around the water.
According to the CDC, drowning is the leading cause of accidental death for children ages four and under. In hopes of reducing the number of drowning deaths and eliminating this statistic, Pool Scouts franchisees have partnered with Hope Floats Foundation to raise money for swim lessons for underprivileged children who may not have otherwise had the opportunity to learn how to swim.
Since we began our partnership in 2021, we’ve collectively raised over $82,000, and this year we broke out goal of reaching the $100,000 mark. This provides youth the ability to gain swim lessons which reduce youth drowning incidents by 83%.

Partnering for Safer Swims: Pool Scouts x Swim with Spice
At Pool Scouts of Huntsville, we believe that clean pools and safe swimming go hand in hand. That’s why we’re proud to collaborate with Swim with Spice, a dedicated local organization providing free swimming lessons to youth in our community.
Together, we’re taking meaningful steps to prevent childhood drowning by promoting water safety education and access to life-saving swim instruction. This partnership aligns with our ongoing support of Hope Floats, a national nonprofit that funds swim lesson scholarships for underserved families.
Through these efforts, we’re helping create a community where every child has the opportunity to enjoy the water safely—because prevention starts with preparation.
Swim with Spice offers a range of programs, including:
These programs are designed to build confidence and promote water safety among participants. The organization emphasizes the cognitive and physical benefits of swimming, highlighting how aquatic activities can enhance alertness, attention, and overall brain development, especially in children.
